Doja Cat Reacts to Nicki Minaj’s Refusal to Collaborate on “Get Into It,” Talks Pepsi Commercial

Nicki recently stated why she refused to work with the popstar.

Nicki Minaj’s appearance on the remix of Doja Cat’s viral smash “Say So” helped propel the song to new heights. Minaj, on the other hand, was not interested in joining Doja on Planet Her’s “Get Into It (Yuh).” “It’s not that I’m too busy; it’s just that there were middle people involved in that situation,” Nicki explained. “I had told her that if it was like how me and BIA were direct and talked to each other directly, but I didn’t love that song [‘Get Into It’] because I didn’t think I could bring anything to it.”

She went on to say, “As a result, I requested that they send me something different. I believe that was the second song they provided me; I requested that they send me something different, but they did not.”

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Doja spoke about her new Pepsi ad for the Soda Shop release, in which she reimagines classic Grease songs. Before being questioned about Minaj’s statements about “Get Into It (Yuh),” the singer-rapper dressed up as Sandu and boasted about the chance.

“My hope is to have her on something that is great for her, something that she is passionate about, and something that I am passionate about,” Doja added. “Things are hurried with me a lot of the time. I’m not sure how it gets to that stage, but I believe that sending Nicki the right music can and will occur. I’m looking forward to it, but I completely agree with her on the importance of finding the appropriate music for her.”

“That will be a pivotal event in my career,” she continued, “and it will make everyone extremely pleased.” “I believe a lot of collaborations with some artists feel forced — everyone is collaborating, remixing, and blah blah blah, and it either doesn’t work or doesn’t work well, but I think Nicki is a strong opponent. Simply said, he’s a terrific rapper and entertainer. It’s ideal for her since she requires more than simply good. Her entire approach to things is just as it should be.”
