Barcelona set to sign both Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix
With less than 48 hours left for the summer transfer window to slam shut, Barcelona seem set to make some big moves before it closes.
It has already been an eventful summer for the Blaugrana, with the club signing Ilkay Gundogan, Inigo Martinez, and Oriol Romeu, along with Vitor Roque, who will be arriving in 2024.
But, the business is not done as it appears that the La Liga champions will press for two more signings before the transfer window slams shut.
Barcelona will sign both Cancelo and Felix
Indeed, as per Gerard Romero, Barcelona plan on signing both Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix in the short time left in the summer window.
A move for Cancelo is very much sewn up, with the Blaugrana and Manchester City already having agreed on a loan move.
While the operation initially included a buy option worth €25 million, the clause is understood to have been removed for now in order to avoid Financial Fair Play issues.
Given that the right-back slot had been a major issue for Xavi Hernandez, Cancelo’s signing should hand him a reprieve.
As for Felix, the 23-year-old Portuguese international has been angling for a move to Barcelona all summer long and finally seems to be getting his wishes.
It has been reported that a three-way agreement between Barça, Atletico Madrid, and Felix over a loan deal is close.
What about Fair Play margin?
Barcelona have endured difficulties in signing and registering players due to the lack of Financial Fair Play margin.
They had been waiting on the €20 million payment from German investors to address the issue in the final week of the window.
Delays in the payment arriving led to Cancelo’s move slowing down, but club president Joan Laporta and treasurer Ferran Olive have provided a personal guarantee worth €20.2 million which has been approved by La Liga.
It should ensure the signing and registration of Cancelo, along with the unregistered players like Inaki Pena and Inigo Martinez, while the loan exit of Ansu Fati should make room for Felix’s arrival.
