As Holyfield returns to the ring, Trump will serve as a commentator.

As Holyfield returns to the ring, Trump will serve as a commentator.

Former US President Donald Trump will commentate on the forthcoming bout between Evander Holyfield, a former world heavyweight champion, and Vitor Belfort, a Brazilian mixed martial artist.

The fight will take place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, near Trump’s Mar-A-Lago estate, on Saturday.

“I adore great warriors and epic battles. In a statement published by FITE TV, Trump stated, “I look forward to witnessing both this Saturday night and expressing my opinions ringside.”

“You won’t want to miss this special event.”

The primary commentary for the bout will be on HBO, but for $49.99, fans can listen to Trump, who will be accompanied by his son Don Jr., on FITE.

After former boxing great Oscar De La Hoya was forced to walk away after testing positive for Covid-19, Holyfield, 58, will fight Belfort.

The fight was initially slated to take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on the 20th anniversary of the Al-Qaeda attacks on New York and Washington.

After California boxing officials refused to authorize the bout between Belfort and Holyfield, who would be a month shy of his 59th birthday on fight night, it was moved to Florida.

Holyfield hasn’t fought since 2011, although he agreed to fight Kevin McBride earlier this year, with a potential rematch with his old foe Mike Tyson on the horizon.

After the planned bout with McBride fell through, Holyfield said on Instagram in August that he’d been “working hard for months.”

“I promise my fans I will step back in the ring at least one more time before I lay my gloves to rest for good,” he said.

Trump is no stranger to boxing, having hosted a number of fights at his former Atlantic City casinos.
