JUST IN: After 15 dogs were discovered caged and starving, Jaheim was arrested for animal cruelty.
The property of the R&B artist was searched, and one of his puppies was put down.
Animal cruelty charges have been filed against a veteran R&B artist. Jaheim had a bright career and was well-liked in the industry, however, like many other musicians, he was adored by fans but faded from view. His name has been linked to provocative remarks and meme culture throughout the years, but word broke on Thursday (September 9) that Jaheim had been arrested.
According to reports, police were dispatched to Jaheim’s home after getting a complaint about a dog in danger. They discovered six dogs in cages that were half filled with water and excrement when they got at the site, according to reports.
Officers discovered an additional nine dogs on the premises, all of which were malnourished and without food or water. Jaheim, along with two others, was detained on an unrelated probation violation warrant. The musician was reportedly accused in February with failing to pay nearly $244K in taxes and penalties in 2008. Because he did not respond to the accusation, a default judgment was entered against him.
In terms of the dogs, 14 were treated and released to a kennel, while one pup was killed, according to reports.
