The Chinese embassy complains to Real Madrid and the latter responds…

The Chinese Embassy in Spain submitted an official protest to Real Madrid, due to some racist chants from a Merengue fan, in the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.

At the beginning of this month, Real Madrid played against the German team at Wembley Stadium in the English capital, London, and the Merengues decided the match in their favor with two goals to one, winning the Champions League for the fifteenth time in its history.

China’s diplomatic delegation in Spain announced on its website its anger and shock over the video clip that spread on social media and included inappropriate and racist words from a Merengue fan.

According to the Chinese embassy statement, Real Madrid expressed its rejection of this inappropriate behavior, and the club condemned any form of racism and xenophobia, and the club stressed that this behavior represents the person alone and is an individual behavior, and does not express the principles of the club and the majority of its fans.

The statement stated that Real Madrid reaffirmed its appreciation and respect for the Chinese fans, thanked its followers in the Asian country, and expressed its desire to further consolidate relations between Spain and China.
