No Messi, no problem.. Inter Miami achieves the comeback with nine players

Back to the track of victories

Inter Miami returned with three valuable points from Philadelphia Union Stadium despite the absence of duo Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, and defeated its host 1-2.

The two stars are currently in their countries’ national team camps in preparation for this month’s Copa America in the United States.

Miami fell behind early in the third minute with a goal from Michael Orr, but tied at the start of the first half through Julian Gressel, and both teams missed several chances to advance, but without success in scoring.

Inter Miami’s fortunes suffered a major blow when the duo, David Ruiz and Tomas Aviles, were sent off with the second yellow card, both in the 68th and 84th minutes. However, Leo Afonso succeeded, with a wonderful individual effort, in scoring the victory goal for his team with nine players in the third minute of stoppage time.

The victory puts Inter Miami alone at the top of the American League’s Eastern Group with a total of 38 points from 19 matches, two points behind its closest competitor, Cincinnati, but the latter has played only 17 matches.
