Lionel Messi names rival that made him ‘most angry’

Lionel Messi has named the rival that made him “most angry” over the course of his career, with Sergio Ramos getting the nod from the Argentine icon.

Eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi has shared a field with a number of legendary figures down the years, with his club career taking him from Barcelona to Inter Miami via Paris Saint-Germain. He has also won 182 caps for his country, gracing World Cup and Copa America competition along the way.

Messi has now told Abitare of the opponent that annoyed him the most, with former Real Madrid captain Ramos eventually becoming a team-mate at PSG: “We had many clashes with Sergio Ramos: how many times did I argue…He is the player who made me feel the most angry. Then we were team-mates, but we always clashed in the Clasico: they were intense matches.”

While picking out his fiercest foe, Messi has also been discussing close friends. He grew up alongside ex-Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero in the Argentine national team set-up and has revealed that he now rooms alone after seeing a heart condition force his long-time ally into retirement. Messi added: “Since Kun Aguero retired from football, I sleep alone in the national team: I no longer have a room-mate.”
