Another piece of history for Cristiano Ronaldo

Portugal superstar becomes all-time record holder for European Championship assists during Turkey clash

Cristiano Ronaldo achieved another piece of history during Portugal’s 3-0 victory over Turkey at Euro 2024.

Goals from Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes, either side of Samet Akaydin’s horrendous own goal, secured Portugal an easy win over Turkey in their second match of the European Championship. For the Portuguese side’s third and final goal, Al-Nassr star Ronaldo perfectly set up Manchester United’s Fernandes to tap into an empty net. That was his seventh assist in the competition – another record to add to his burgeoning collection.

The result ensured Roberto Martinez’s men advanced to the last-16 of the Euros as group winners. For Ronaldo, he made history earlier this month by appearing at a record sixth Euros. The 39-year-old helped Portugal win the 2016 edition of this tournament and he would love to add more silverware to his trophy cabinet.
