There could be a fresh twist in Barcelona’s pursuit of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski as journalist Francesc Aguilar is claiming that the striker’s agent, Pini Zahavi, has offered him to Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the summer.
Lewandowski has made his intentions of wanting to leave Bayern Munich very clear and has informed the club that he will not be signing a new contract. With his current one expiring in 2023, the German champions are now forced to consider selling him this year or lose him nothing a year later.
Barcelona have been hot on his trails for months now as Xavi Hernandez & co. seek a new top-quality goalscorer to add to their squad. Having missed out on Erling Haaland, Lewandowski has emerged as the top target for the Blaugrana.
Recent reports also indicated that the 33-year-old Poland captain also has his heart set on a move to Barça and is not considering any other options as things stand.
However, it seems like Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, might have other ideas. As per the aforementioned report, the Bayern Munich superstar’s representative has already offered him to French champions PSG.
Les Parisiens are in the market for a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who is headed for Real Madrid. Lewandowski is a player that they are looking at and Zahavi offering the ace goalscorer to them could jeopardise Barcelona’s pursuit of the 33-year-old.
Given the financial situation at Camp Nou, PSG could easily offer a bigger transfer fee to Bayern Munich and hand the striker a much more lucrative pay packet. Having missed out on Haaland due to the finances, the Catalan giants could see history repeat with Lewandowski.
Pini Zahavi’s good relationship with Barcelona president Joan Laporta can be an advantage for the club. But, ultimately, the agent would likely seek the best commission for himself and a bigger contract for his client. So, it remains to be seen how things pan out in the weeks to come.
