With three losses on the trot at the Camp Nou, Xavi’s Barcelona were under pressure to get back to winning ways against Mallorca. Needless to say, the team did not disappoint.
Barcelona’s win on Sunday may seem to appear tight on paper. However, it was a dominant display that saw them ease past their Palma based opposition. The side found the back of the net four times, but two goals were ruled out for offside upon review.
The win sees Barcelona back in the driver’s seat to finish second in La Liga and secure qualification for not only the UEFA Champions League but also the Supercopa de Espana. We now run the rule over the Blaugrana participants.

The German shot-stopper had a quiet night against Mallorca and was forced to make a save only on one occasion. It would be unfair to pin the blame for the goal conceded on him, for it was an unstoppable shot allowed by a defensive lapse.
The Brazilian overcame his recent fitness struggles to play 89 minutes on Sunday. He had a good night defensively, providing one interception and four clearances. Despite being heavily involved in the buildup, it was one of the rare nights when Alves did not record a key pass.
Ronald Araujo: 7
The centre-back penned a new deal with Barcelona earlier this week and began his new contract with a solid display. While he could have done better to deny Mallorca’s goal on the night, the Uruguayan was instrumental in holding down the fortress.
Frenkie de Jong had his moments of magic, but also a fair share of forgettable events. There is no doubt that the Dutchman has stepped up his game after Pedri’s injury, and Sunday was no different.
